2004 s60 engine stalled at a full stop S60

As I was coming to a complete stop at a traffic light car cut off and all lights on dash board lite up. Put car in park, started it again, drove off without any further incident. Any ideals? Thanks.

Did you check if your S60 was part of the fuel rail pressure sensor recall? My 2004 S60R would cut out intermittently but I also got the CEL - when I pulled the code it was the sensor.

I took it to the dealer and they told it had already been replaced (it was a lease return), so I told them to replace it again -- if I was wrong I'd pay bill. In the end I was right.

Sounds like the torque converter did not unlock as you came to a stop. All the dash lights come on when the engine dies.

How many miles on your car and when was the last time you flushed the transmission?

77k I flushed the transmission at 50k using Mobil ATF 3309. I bought the hose & clips from IPD back when I did my 850 turbo. The boss of all boss has the car now when she gets back I'll check the ATF level. I planned on changing every 50k. Thanks.

If it continues to stall, it might be a software problem.

It could be the throttle body needing to be cleaned. I think although my car is a stick shift, it could be the same for auto's. I had a stalling issue while coming to a stop in my 04, and Klaus suggested cleaning the TB and Idle Air Controller. I did the TB cleanout and it solved the stalling problem, although I still get a lower rpm at times while stopping- eventually I will do the IAC cleanout.

2004 s60 engine stalled at a full stop S60

Well April 5 I added about half pint of ATF 3309 & no further instance of stalling until today, 3 and half months later. This time my wife was coming to a stop on a level road. I read the reply to clean the TB IAC but this engine is a little different than my 850 turbo. Is there somewhere online I can go, to get a description or picture on where the TB IAC are located? I called the dealer and asked about service bulletins or software issues which would result in stalling conditions when coming to a stop, he stated he wasn't aware of any. Plus, since there are no lights on the dash I don't think there would be any codes to find. Thanks.

Well here it is April again and the problem reappears last week. The stalling happens when coming to a stop usually on the way home; fortunately only once every other day. I called Volvo 800 458-1552 with my VIN to see if there was a software update or if the fuel relay sensor recall pertain to my S60 but neither one applied. Clean the throttle body as recommend by Klaus & Woodstock seems to have solved the problem thanks.

Update
The problem came back even worse than before coming to a stop the car would stall several times a day the problem was solved by replacing the fuel pressure sensor
Volvo Fuel Pressure Sensor (V70 S60) - Bosch 0261230109 has worked fine the last 2 years. Cheers
