Stretchable CV boot V70-XC70 1998

Has anyone used Stretchable CV boot? The type that can be slipped over plastic cone, on to the CV joint without having to remove it from the car?
Where can one order such CV boots?

In my opinion, the best stretchable boots are made by dorman. You can order at your local auto parts store. These will only work for the outside joint...the one next to the wheel. The generic stretch boot will not work for the inner joint because of the shape of the joint. In some ways, I think the stretch boots last longer because they are more flexible. However, not as strong if something gets flipped up and hits the boot. It is really not hard to pull the shaft and you may find it easier to slip the boot on with the driveshaft on the bench.

old post but wanted to add.

I was very pleased with using the Dorman Uniboot (614-004) from Autozone.($20)

CV joint still good. No need to pull the axle of car.

Instead of buying the Dorman cone or air tool.....

I bought a large tranny funnel which I trim 2 inches off the wide cone end, and slotted the perimeter to allow the end to flex down as the boot slips past.

Lubed up the funnel with olive oil and coated the inverted boot....

Slide the boot down over the funnel so the wide end of boot overhangs the funnel end...so as to grab it as you push it off the funnel...

Put the wide end of the funnel with boot over the drive axle CV.....and pushed.

All on, re greased and clamped and trim excess boot away. Reinstall spindle and torsion rod nut and lower control arm bolt.

Happy

If you mean this:

It sounds like a good idea, so long as you catch the split boot soon enough and before a lot of dirt gets in the CV joint.

Try it and let us know how long it lasts. A typical axle with both boots repaired will be around $80-100 for a complete replacement.
