Extra driving lights? 850 1997

Installed fog lights on my 97 850 GLT, and while I had the front bumper off I noticed two more leads hanging down in their brackets just to the left of the radiator--these in addition to the fog light leads out on the fenders. No Volvo service dealer I contacted could tell me what they were for.

If indeed for driving lights, can anyone recommend a good set. Volvo apparently doesn't make any. The car is maxed out accessory-wise, and there is just one unused switch position left (right side of steering column), and I wonder if that is what it was intended for. Dick

Volvo do indeed make an AUxiliary Lighting kit. The brackets extend over the top of the bumper bar between bonnet and bumper. I made my own copycat setup and it works well. I also purchased a switch that fits in the position you describe (transposed for RHD) and it was a 'driving light switch'. As for those wires you describe, I am unsure. Mine has them sitting there unused and I do not have light wipers.

FYI the aux lighting kit is listed in the IPC for the 850.

Do you have headlight wipers? If not then the wires are probably for those.

    Bye, Arno.
