Wow, I've read about it a lot but never me...flashing arrow! 850 '94

I'm always quick to brag about how great my '94 is with all the original components working like new. In fact most of what is logged on brickboard never happens to our 850. That all changed on the 26th...for two days our 850 sat in the garage in -15C - -20C weather here in Toronto. On the 26th with a 100mile trip ahead to the grandparents, the flashing arrow appeared as I backed out of the garage. No check engine lamp and the car was NOT in limp home mode. The car felt very frozen and the shift selector felt stiff as well...with the family in car, I pulled back into the garage, lifted the hood, read the code 3-1-3 twice, then cleared it which turned off the arrow. We drove the 100 miles and when we reached our destination, I worked the shifter back and forth around four times. At the end of the day the arrow didn't appear and the car has been fine the last two days with lots of use. I have checked the tranny manual which lists "contact resistance" as one of five different faults that set off the 3-1-3 (Gear position sensor)code. Conclusion: the car was just frozen and needed a little thawing out...time will tell.
