Removal of the driver's seat 850 1993

It looks like I need to do some work on the driver's seat in my !993 850 GLT (no seat airbag).I need to find out why the seat heater has stopped working and why the recline motor works only periodically.(Actuall I have looked at Bay 13 about the motor and have a pretty good idea about how to fix that).

My question is whether there are big problems in removing the seat, other than just the mechanical removal involved ?

Thanks for any help and advice.

Jim Barrett

Re: Removal of the driver's seat 850 1993

It's easy but unless you're replacing your lower seat heater element, there's no need to remove the seat at all.

The T-stat can be easily removed from the back seat (probably a broken wire at the base of the t-stat, easily repaired with a new connector) and your other problem is most likely bad switch contacts (often fixed with WD-40 sprayed inside the switch).

If the seat heater t-stat wiring and t-stat is not the problem, it's best to ohm check the 2 heating elements from the connector on the lower front of the seat (also assuming you have voltage from the switch).

Jim,

Just mechanical but be carefull you don't break the front track alignment pin. It's made of a weak die cast metal and breaks easily.
