roof liner wet after rain 850 96

I purchased my wife an '96 850, now having it after a couple of rain storms, the drivers side head liner above the door is wet. Dries out after a couple of days. I looked at the roof strips and it looks good, but I still suspect this to be the problem. It has a sunroof, but the water is not near the glass, only above the drivers side front door.

Can a remove the strips without much trouble to see if it is leaking?

Any suggestions?

Gregg, there are drains in the roof which may be clogged. I believe there are 4, one at each corner. The rear ones go thru the trunk and exit below it. Sometimes they are kinked or need to be blown out (with air) Look for them inside the side liners of the trunk. I never had to find the front drains but I suspect they exit in the vicinity of the firewall from the windshield pillars.

Re: roof liner wet after rain 850 96

Last summer another tech saw one where the plastic drain "trays" at the corners of the SR assembly itself was leaking, apparently cracked. That's the ONLY car we've seen where water was leaking from the headliner area.

If the drains aren't clogged, have someone lower the headliner by each door and water test it to see exactly what's leaking.

If this is a wagon with a roof rack or not check the seals for the mounting

screws. This will show up around the front doors on the headliner
