Headlights Failing related to Failing ABS unit? 850 1997

I'm ordering a replacement ABS unit - it's been on the fail, intermittently, for about four months. Friday night I got in the car, started it - headlights and dashlights would not come on. I turned the car off and on again and they came on. Any ideas on whether or not this problem is related to the ABS unit's decline?

I would check all the primary wiring - battery, starter, alternator etc for damage. If a voltmeter is available watch to see if charging voltage is adequate and stable while engine is running.

I don't recall many people reporting intermittent ABS module failures. Did you collect a trouble code?

With cars of 10+ years age the chance of electrical intermittents due to wiring, switches, relays - anything that can move or vibrate or see moisture - goes up.

Why are you ordering a replacement ABS unit? They can be repaired, better than new, for $100-150.

No, the ABS has nothing to do with lighting. The ABS will control the speedo signal.

I suggest you rotate the light switch a few times to remove any corrosion inside the light switch.
