850 strut tower 850

I have a 94 850 that needs the strut mounts/spring seats replaced. I have all the parts needed for this but have discovered something. the passenger side strut tower has about 1/8 inch crack between it and the inner fender. it looks like it was just glued in. should i pound it back and tack weld or dont worry about it?? any thoughts??? thanks!!

Pictures would be helpful, cause I'm not really sure what you're talking about. If you meant the crack was in this part then I'd just replace.

If you meant he "frame section that is shaped around the wheel well" I'd just weld it and check on it every now and then to make sure it doesn't spread.

Are you talking about the bracket that holds the strut tower bushing?

If it's cracked maybe welding is an option, but probably things will warp and shift and you'll need a front end alignment. Then I think it's better to get a new bracket from a bone yard or Volvo and maybe a new strut bushing and then an alignment. What shape are the shocks in? Maybe its time for all new stuff?
Be careful to ask the experts (not me) what after market parts are OK and what
parts need to be OEM for the front end overhaul.

    Good luck, Bill
