steering rack lower cap is missing ? S70 1998

Looking over the car I saw the lower cap for the gearbox part of the rack is gone.
How does this go on the rack screw press etc?
can just the cap be gotten anywhere?
doesn't appear to be leaking but can't be good for the guts of the thing.
thanks

    Hi,
still have one 850-94 which steering rack pinion upper gasket I renewed few years
ago. there I had to open the lower cup to get the pinion a part.
It is a press fit, full with crease thus no big deal: cleaning, crease and new cup will be needed.

I have never removed one. I believe it is a press fit, check the junk yards or call a dealer parts person and ask him if there is a gasket/O ring for it.

I agree, it is there to keep dirt and salt out, not to keep parts from falling out :>)

Thanks for all the info. I am off to the parts yard, they said racks don't move much and take the cap off one that doesn't look so hot leaks bent etc.
these caps were the same size over several years I believe
