98 s70 glt boosting S70

hey, im in the process of acquiring a 1998 s70 glt and have some upgrades planned for it. i have a 15 g turbo, the ipd reversed inter cooler pipes, forge atmospheric blow off valve from an srt4, ecu flash and some other things that are gonna go into it. anyways the question i have is this: how many psi of boost can this engine handle on a regular basis?

i have a friend with a 95 850 that runs 20 psi every day but i know the compression is different between the s70 and 850 and neither of us are sure what the max boost is for the s70 so i figured id ask around here.

If I were you I'd be looking for a t5 or R (s70 or 850), because the "smaller" engine will hold more boost. I wouldn't run the 2.4 above 12 if it were mine. Don't quote me, but IIRC the glt runs 13:1 compression ratio while the turbo is only 9.8:1. That's a pretty big difference.

Let me see, your buddy has a 2.3L designed for high presssure boost and you have a 2.4L design for low pressure boost. If you turn up the boost to 15+, you risk breaking the wrist pins or the connecting rods on the 2.4L

A better place to get technical info on the maximum amount of boost your engine can take is

Just remember, the above article is for the 2.3L engine, not the 2.4L
