Which filter with Mobil 1 ? C70 99

Happy and Healthy holidays to all on the brick board!

My question today is which oil filter seems to

be the one of choice to be used in conjunction

with Mobil 1 ? Would like to do my own oil changes.

Also, is 10w30 the right grade for my engine?

[ 99' High pressure turbo T5 ]

In my area the temp range is about 15degs winter

and 95degs summer.

Thanks, rd

You can use any decent filter. If you want the best filtration (particulary if you plan to run the Volvo recommended drain interval or longer), the AMSOIL, Mobil 1, Hard Driver are at the top of the list.

      Dick,

strange that you didn't mention Mann (or Volvo OEM) here. They are known anr proven to be excellent filters

      Vadim.

Far as I know, they are very good filters. Have never seen any test result data from them. Based on price, I doubt they will perform as well as those I listed, but almost certainly better than a whole bunch of others.

Use 10W-30 and either OEM or Mann Filters available from IPD.

Here is a test of some of the more common oil filters. Makes for some interesting reading.

    OEM Volvo filter element.

5W30 for winter, 10W30 for summer but 5W30 yr round is OK too.

My owner's manual calls for 10w-40 synthetic all year for temps in this range (NYC area).

OEM filter looks quite complex with flowback springs and stuff. (real technical, eh?)

I think 10W40 is too thick and Volvo has always advised 10W30 for petroleum oils. 5W30 (or less, like Amsoil 0W30) is better yet for extreme cold like what we now have here (-2F, -41F windchill).

As for this "OEM filter looks quite complex with flowback springs and stuff. (real technical, eh?)"

No, it's just an oil filter with a check valve (on '98s, the good ol' spin-on types) that keeps the oil from draining back on engines where the filter is horizontal which is better than say Fram because there's no delay for cold oil pressure.
