Cruise not working V70-XC70 1998

I have no cruise function at all on my 98 non-turbo v70
Are there any usual suspects in failure?
Fuse is good. I do not hear any leaks or hissing. Pedal switches appear to be operable but not confirmed. i will be getting inside and warm sometime this week and starting diagnostics.
Any tips or direction would be appreciated.

Thanks

    Cruise not working V70-XC70 1998

I just replaced my cruise control switch on my 98 V70 T5 with around 160,000. The vacuum switch is held into a squarish hole right above the brake light switch on a bracket in front of the brake pedal. There are two plastic tabs which hold the cruise control vacuum switch into the bracket. On my car, one of the plastic tabs that held the cruise control vacuum switch into the bracket just broke off-being plastic, it was probably brittle and just failed with old age. Purcahsed a new swtich, got it into the hole in the bracket (a real chore) and everything worked great again. The switch was around $20.

Cool. Easy (and cheap fix)Thanks for the tip
I am hoping for something similar.
It has just been too cold for me to dig into my fault. -13 tonight.

My S90 had a seized compressor motor. I tore it down and cleaned it up and it has been working great since, been three years now.

Mine has a very slow vacuum pump.

You can verify the pedal switch by pulling off the vacuum line under the battery tray. You should be able to see the line go under the battery and with a 'feel', pull it iff the motor housing. If you suck on it and get a good vacuum, the switch is OK.

It could be a relay went bad. I believe they are under the dash.

Klaus, just wondering. Do those tips hold true for a 99 or higher model with the ETM? Wondering if the newer systems are still vacuum controlled.

In this case, computers are better than the old vacuum systems!!! With the intro of the ETM, cruise is now precisely controlled by the ETM and engine computers.

At least I hope so for 1999.
