Backup Light switch adjustment? Manual transmission V70-XC70 1999

On my 99 V70 T5M, the backup lights only work when you hold the gearshift all the way back in reverse.

There doesn't appear to be any adjustment for the shift cable or the switch. How do I fix this? Bend the cable mounting bracket back 1/4 inch or so?

only solution is to replace the switch. Once it's in reverse,it's in, and no adjustment will help. The switch is worn.
