TRACS/Service light 850 1996

Hello,

I own a 1996 850 T5 GLT and I have two problems.

The first is that the TRACS does not work at all, the light on the dash turns on and off ok, but the car spins like crazy in the wet.

Do you know of any common problems with the TRACS.

The second problem is that I can not see how to reset the service light. I recently printed off an article on how to reset the light but none of the three methods appear to apply to my vehicle. There is no port behind the drivers side headlamp, there is no plug opposite the odometer and pressing the odometer reset button has no effect.

Thanks in advance.

    Re: TRACS/Service light 850 1996

    Hi Nat.

I can help you about resetting service light.

    Have a look at www.volvospeed.com/850slight.htm

So, in the 1993-1995 850, you can reset yourself the light by the port behind the drivers side headlamp (I do so in my 1994 850; see my yesterday's message).

In your 1996 850 (such as 1997-1998 S/V/C 70) an expensive reset tool is needed to reset the service light. The reset tool can be purchased from:

    1. Volvo

    2. IPD at www.ipdusa.com

    3. Baum tools at www.baumtools.com .

In the newest 1999, the light can be resetted by the odometer reset button.

About TRACS, remember it is "on" only until 40 kmh (25 mph).

    Bye.

    Paolo
