Happy Holidays to everyone on the board.

On a whim I checked my spare tire pressure the other day and it was low...real low. I try to take care of everything else and avidly monitor oil, regular tire pressure but never seem to think to check the spare so do yourself a favor and check it. Nothing worse than having a flat, just to put the spare on and find that its barely inflated.

    Hello, The Tri-State region continued to dig out from the 5th largest blizzard on record. Family members were using my V70 and we let the Saab be due to a universal lack of parking spots. When I backed the car out yesterday it had a flat. It was the first time I had to use the emergency jack and spare. My tire guy said that the oxidation residue(a powder)is always present and that the temperature change can break the bead's seal. I filled the tire with air before I left for the tire shop and saw little bubbles streaming from several places along both beads. He said it was common. It wasn't really that cold but the wheel was shrouded in snow. Whatever, check your spare! Kira

    What? Me worry? That's why I carry my AAA card! LOL.

    This is the beginning of the cold season when tire pressures are normally low and a spare seldom gets checked. So...

    CHECK THE SPARE TIRE PRESSURE.

    Very good advice, along with easing up on New Year's parties. Don't drink and then drive. First time DUI in Minnesota will cost about $10,000 - Ticket, lost time at work, lawyer, rent a car or taxi, tow truck, etc.

    Keeping one of those $10/$20 (on sale) Sears 12v tire inflators in the car isn't a bad idea, either.

      spare tire pressure - 12V Sears inflators work? V70-XC70

      Do the 12V inflators work reasonably well? I have heard they aren't even worth their low price.
