bulb failure position light S60 2002

I have an alert on my dash that says "Bulb Failure Position Light". What's the position light? It's obviously not a head light or taillight or brakelight. Anybody got a suggestion? Thanks

I would get the same message at least once every 6 months. If you look at both tail lamps you'll see that there are 2 bulbs in each, one above the other. On first glance it didn't look like there was a problem because there was light on both sides, but looking more closely it turned out a bulb was indeed not lit up. Sometimes, a slam of the trunk would fix the issue or otherwise reseat of the bulb fixed the issue. Other times, the bulb was really burnt out.

Conversely, one of my front parking lights burnt out (yellow bulb at the corner that has a second filament for the turn signal...and yes, they both are a pain to swap out) but the message center never indicated a burnt bulb. *shrug*

Up front, most likely. Turn on the parking lights and take a good look at the small lights that point to the side of the car. They are a pain to replace.

Like tmannian suggests, one of the bulbs may not be seated properly. I've found I can sometimes jiggle the bulbs a little and they go back on. Otherwise, put together a collection of bulbs for occasional replacement.
They are all maddeningly different. This is one of the downsides of daytime running lights. My Volvo dealership parts guy sometimes just gives them to me free -- too much of a pain to write up an invoice.

One of your parking lights is either burned out or just not seated properly. Have someone run through the lights as you stand behind and see which isn't working properly.

If you're not driving it "like its stolen," are you really driving?
