Online source for Volvo parts

Is there an online source to get Volvo parts? Or is it the same price to have the mechanic get them for you? Not a Volvo dealer just a local car repair guy. Thanks in advance

As the others say it is probably best if you are having work done to have the shop get the parts - that way both parts and labor aspects of any warranty issue would be honored without you having to go to extra trouble.

For do-it-yourself stuff I have had good experience with europartsdirect.com.

I ordered a head gasket set and related items from partsgeek.com. Even though I specified model, engine number and VIN number some parts weren't correct and couldn't be used. This couldn't be determined by me until the kit was opened. This firm doesn't accept returns easily if at all and specifically does not accept return of an opened package for any reason. I would not choose them again.

    W,

Volvo of Dallas at discountvolvoparts.com. They used to be at myswedishparts.com.

I've purchased OEM parts from them for many years and their prices and service is always top notch.

As Klaus says, don't bring your own parts to a mechanic. Supplying parts for service is a customary profit generator and every business needs to make ends meet.

Just wondering what kind of parts are you looking for? Many parts are available online, but the special parts are dealer only.

    Here's two sources, both good

Here's two that are well-known for basic maintenance. I have used them both for various reasons. There are other parts dealers who specialize in used body parts such as a huge Volvo junkyard in Sacramento, California where I went when my sister backed into my fender

Usually, shops can source parts cheaper than individuals. But they also mark up the parts price to retail in order to make a small profit. Most shops will not work on your car if you insist on supplying the parts, even if they are OEM.

While you can get a good deal on OEM at Taska Volvo, in your area, a shop owner can get a slightly better price for the same part from them.
