Hi there,
two weeks ago I took the decision and got my new
chip for the Volvo (V70 R AWD 1998) installed - it rocks!
I chose a Wetterauer tuning chip, as it is still quite
konservative concerning power and torque, and i found some
good reviews of their chips. (300hp, 420 Nm)
Installation took about 1 hour, they installed the version
with the possibility to switch between the old and the new
chip, well actually you switch between two programmes, as they handed me out the original chip. I did not let them install the
switch, rather do it myself, very nicely and probably in the
dashboard with an original Volvo switch (e.g. where otherwise the sunroof-switch is sitting)
Perfomance: great. Car is much more agile, first gear
is almost unusable when you push the floor, at least if you want
to avoid burning rubber on all four wheels. Second gear really
rocks, unbelievable. You actually hear the Turbo, and
the car goes up to around 120km/h until the limiter sets in.
Top speed: tested in Germany up to 260km/h on the speedo,
then my wife started to complain, and the speedo is at its
top, but the car was not floored. Nice to chase big Mercedes
and Porsches, Audis etc.
Fuel consuption seems to be the same,
but I can'ts ay a lot about this, my style of driving
was a little bit different the last weeks.
Got a half year guarantee (up to 100.000km), and hope I do not need it, but usually I am not using all the power of the car,
so I try to avoid unnecessary wear.
Any ideas where to look for possible problems,
what to avoid etc. concerning the extra bit of power?
Conclusion: Try it yourself, you will love it!
Ralfi
PS: Still waiting for the K&N-filter to let him breathe properly.
