Emergency brake and front rotor removal V70-XC70 2004

How do I adjust my emergency brake? The brake handle has excess travel before applying any rear brake pressure.
Also, any words of wisdom on getting the rotors off this car? This is the first time I have removed rotors on my v70 and I recall having to work pretty hard to get the rotors off my prior 850.
thank you!

Hello, From the posts I've read while preparing to replace my emergency brakes: There's a star wheel accessable through a lug hole if you position it at 12 o'clock. On the English website Volvoforums.org.uk, I've read that there is no adjustment on emergency brakes. A poster on that site even attached a drawing which showed a simple strap of metal where the adjuster would be. I bet there is an adjuster on our(N.American)cars.

There is indeed a 'star wheel' adjuster on these cars. You access it through one of the lug holes by pushing a flat head screwdriver in to turn the wheel one way or the other. I can't tell you which way to turn it as it could be assembled either up or down orientation. Trial and error I guess.

First though, pull the access door in the armrest and back the adjustment screw off a bit so that when you have the star wheel tight you can screw it down some more or loosen a bit from there. This screw is for finer adjustment.
