98 fluid amt tranny drain fill V70-XC70

Hey All,

Long time (6+ years) no posts...had a few 740's, a 240, and now a 98 XC70. If what I understand is correct, the tranny fluid capacity is 8 quarts? Anyways..hope that is correct, but in the attempt to do the old drain and fill a few times to "flush" the system, about how much should I expect to put back in after I pull the drain nut from the bottom of the tranny? I figure some will be in the toque convertor and radiator...and just do not want to overfill when I drain and refill. As it is getting cold out and since the tranny cooler lines look old I feel the old drain and fill, drain and fill, drain and fill, will be my best bet at this point.

So..any ideas on the amount that would be needed for this?

Regards,
Steve

Somewhere about 3 quarts. Best to mark a gallon jug, pour the used fluid in the jug, and add the same amount.

The lines are not a problem, just get a new clamp clip and do a proper flush.

When dumping from the bottom drain, use a new crush washer! Same size as for the oil drain plug.
