How deep should the bottom block hole be for the pcv system? C70 1999

1999 C70, Klaus suggested I repost for answer.

Does anyone know how deep the bottom hole in the block where the pcv system plugs in should be?

When I performed the flame trap replacement. I put a screwdriver in hole to check if it was plugged. There were no oily deposits or gunk around the system and the screwdriver went in only about an inch and hit something hard. Sounding like metal.

I assumed that the hole was not that deep and I hit some type of baffle and didn' pursue any further digging. Is this correct or did I just hit a very hardened oil mass that needs to be drilled out?

Previous post----I preformed the flame trap replacement with a kit from IPD (2E8705 Complete PCV Kit). All went smooth and all hoses in the correct place. The car runs fine but I am still getting alot of oil leaking out the filler cap and the PCV hose that connects to the top of the head where the spark plugs are keeps blowing off. (new oil cap gasket installed to). It appears there is a hard block somewhere but I don't know where it could be. The square hold in the PTC valve was also cleaned but it didn't look like there were any deposits. I am at a loss for the answer here. Any help would be appreciated.

The hole doesn't go that far in before it heads downward. It drops into the oil pan after a short trip (an inch or so sounds right). Check this diagram on how the system is supposed to work.

The hose keeps blowing off? How much air is blowing out at the hose attaching to the cylinder block? It shouldn't be blowing off, have you tried a clamp to hold it down?

Are you certain that oil is leaking out the cap, and not the hose when it blows off? If it is the cap, how certain are you that the replacement gasket is on properly? Oil shouldn't be coming out, especially with a new gasket.

When the engine is idling there shouldn't be much in terms of flow coming out that pipe. If there is, you've got other issues.

If you're not driving it "like its stolen," are you really driving?
