850 wet carpets 850

hi folks - another question about my 'new to me' 94 850 wagon - the carpet in the front driver and passenger wheel wells appears to be getting wet - it seems that it is connected to rain and is definitely not coolant from the heater core - the main air dam drain at the firewall was plugged and now cleared, the sunroof appears to be draining as designed - this is my first 850 and i've never had this trouble with my '90 740 so am a bit stuck as to what else to check, any suggestions???

ps. the previous owner installed rain gutters from a v70 (i think), i assume he did this to avoid the 'rain in the window' problem that i've read about with the 850's - could these be contributing to my problem or are there drains in that channel that i should be cleaning out???

In addition to the two drains at the front edge of the windshield cover, if you remove the windshield cover, on the passenger side, there is another drain that must be cleared.

Also, don't know where you are located so we don't know if this is due to air conditioner use. If you are using your air conditioner, you need to make sure the evaporator drain is clear. It is a short, formed rubber hose at the center of the "transmission hump" near where the heater core is. Need to make sure that thing is clear.

Just wondering how long its been since you unclogged the drains? The water can seep deep down in there and stay damp/musty for a long time if you don't pull out all the carpets and give it a chance to get out all at once.

How's the seal around the front doors?

If you're not driving it "like its stolen," are you really driving?
