Hi all,
my current car is a volvo 760gle - been a great car, my wife has recently decided she prefers driving it to her toyota.

I'm thinking its a good time to get another car.

s60 is my first choice but turning circle is a put off.

considering 2004-6 model s40/60 or saab 9-3/9-5(sorry) Reliability reports i've read on web seem to indicate saab's more reliable than either of the 2 volvo's and i'm scared to get a volvo and find myself chasing never ending problems.

what do you guys think

What is your opinion?

Two different Swedes. I would go to a Saab dealer and test drive both models. In my opinion, I like the 9-3 better than the S40, a little sportier and a fraction of more interior usable space.

Both makers have problems with some components, and the parts are usually the same cost.

It is up to you to determine if you like the key behind the steering wheel or on the center console.

Fun cars! Water pump is usually good for 40K miles, but failure will not take out the timing belt. Better resale than Volvo/SAAB, but tougher maintenance.

Still, fun to drive. Especially winter with RWD.

Smaller C pillar so visibility is a little better than S40.

I am glad I have 2 Volvos in great shape, I would hate to go car shopping for real. Besides, at 6'7", I don't fit in a 300 BMW or a SAAB 9-3 or an S40.

i think i'll go for a 9-3 unless a volvo comes along at a really good price.

i dont see too many 15year old bm's driving around here , but lots of 15 year old volvo's & saabs

i have my eyes open for a low mileage 960/s90 and i may get lucky!!!

I retired my 89 240 in favor of a 2003 Saab 9 3 five speed convertible about 9 months ago, and I really like the car. It was one owner, dealer serviced with 63K and in excellent shape.

Nice response when the turbo kicks in, and handles admirably.
