ETM fix? V70-XC70 1999

A few years ago, the local dealer did a free upgrade to the etm on my '99 na V70. At the time, I thought that my etm worries were over. But are they? Was the fix permanent? Do I need to worry?

My car seems fine, with 145k on it, but is the etm problem just hanging back waiting to zap me when I least suspect it? TIA

ETM fix? V70-XC70 1999

It wasn't a permanent fix to the problem, however this along with keeping the throttle area clean (taking it off and getting a good clean/oiling at least once a year will go a very long way) might keep the ETM from biting it. If it does go, XeMoDeX is the place to get it fixed (they change it so it no longer physically contacts, they also do an ultrasonic cleaning on the ETM that really gets the crap out...)

If you're not driving it "like its stolen," are you really driving?

ETM fix? V70-XC70 1999

Hello, Your free upgrade was probably "Service Campaign #155" which relocated the wear zone of the mylar strip used to create a positioning signal. If and when your ETM goes out you'll be ready beacuse you searched "XeMODeX", a Canadian company, for their improvement to these ETMs. Kira
