Power steering cap leak?? V70-XC70

I notice after driving about 30 miles, there is fluid on top of the power steering reservoir. I have tried taking the cap off and putting back on. The problem is still there. The steering caps are not too expensive, but would like to make sure it is the problem before I drop down 25.00.

Thanks

The caps come with a pin hole in the top to let out excess pressure, but no fluid should ever come out.

Your PS fluid probably neads to be flushed anyway, so why not do that first? Make sure it is synthetic fluid.

Why would flushing the system help? I know it is a good maintenance issue, but how would it correct the leaking?

Most cases it is dirt in the line to the pump that is slowing down the flow enough to build pressure in the bottle. I don't mean the standard turkey baster replacement method, but remove the hose and actually flush the system.
