For the last several years the coating on the volume knob on the radio of my S60T5
has been slightly sticky.
While I was having it worked on I got out one of the keys I don't normally use and noticed
that the key ring going through the hole in the head of the key was also sticky,
as was much of the head of the key.
If it were a plain metal key I would just clean it off good but since it has a chip in it, I'm reluctant.
Likewise the radio knob. It seems to be that the polymer itself is degrading (reverting?) on the surface.
Does this happen to your cars? What do you do about it?
