I'm going to get an OEM muffler Like KlausC says 850 1995

Klaus said back on Aug 7, 2008.

I already made my appointment with Volvo. The pipe seemed to have split at a wide clamp a foot behind the cat. I'm just hoping it's not $800 for the muffler, still if that's what it is, then that's it.

Several years ago they also wrote there was a crack or something in my exhaust manifold, I hope they don't give me any BS. with their 'EXHAUST SYSTEM UNIFORM INSPECTION GUIDELINES' .

There's hardly a part on my car they they say doesn't need replacing, but it drives great and just hit 100,000 miles. I'm the original owner. I might even keep it another 15 years.

They will charge you for a muffler and rear hanger, along with a new clamp. I am surprised the pipe failed, unless the rear hanger broke. Most of the mufflers last well past 200K.

They do not cost a lot and are easy to swap, if the car is on a lift.

I hope the flexible down pipe is not cracked, that is expensive.

The rear hanger did break a year ago - I did a coat hanger support. 850 1995

The support ears broke off the tailpipe. Who knew what happened to the car when my son was driving it.

That explains the crack in the forward section of the tailpipe. Check the flexible section of the down pipe closely for any cracks due to the stress it encountered trying to hold the whole thing off the ground.
