IMHO, only the IPD is worth considering. I live in Chicago, which has huge pothole issues in late winter / early spring. OEM would last 6 - 12 months. So far, the IPD has lasted > 5 years. If you have the IPD sway bars, these links are mandatory (my opinion) owing to the increased stress the stiffer bar puts on the links.

On the other hand, if you got 10 years on the OEM, perhaps your needs would be fine with the OEM. I can tell it won't work in my situation though.

    Good luck.

Once you put the stiffer sway bar you can't use the regular links. If you have regular bars the regular links will work but heavy duty will last longer. The anti sway bar can put a serious amount of torsion on the link which wears it quite quick if its not designed to handle the loads. If you have a heavy duty anti-sway bar (or if you upgraded most of your suspension parts already) then upgrade your links to heavy-duty.

However, If you still have OEM, and they held up for quite some time, then the Bilsteins will work. If you decide to go with the OEM part, then let me say that I believe the heavy-duty will outlast the OEM by at least 30% (Mr. Norm's so far has outlasted by 500%) which is the cost increase. Now if you got 12 years out of your OEM (aka if the ones on the car are factory..) then I'd go Bilsteins. I think they're just as good as OEM and they're half the cost. 12 years might be a bit much to expect them to last but I do think it not unreasonable to expect 2-3 years. 5-6 with the heavy duty..

        Well,
I cheaped out and went with the FEBI/bilstein.
They were identical in appearance to the Volvo units that I pulled off. Right down to the plastic cover over the back side of the joints. Except that the Febi unit had wire retaining rings on the both sides of the rubber boots. It took me longer to jack it up than to change them. We'll see how long they last. The OEM's had 71K on them.

Thanks to every one for their guidance.
        John
