cam cover bolt torque (T6 engine) S80 1999

All,

I've been trying to find Volvo's tightening/torque specification for the "40-or-so" bolts that hold the cam cover/housing in place on a '99 S80 T6. Already checked VADIS and with the dealership, and found no references. All either say is "if they're M7 bolts, they're tightened to 17NM." Have even looked at specs for cars with similar engines (2004 XC90) and still nothing.

Anybody with a source or a definitive spec?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Steve A-

I don't think you'll find a better answer than based on the size of the bolt. Given they're M7's its 17nm. I don't believe there is any special procedure for installing the bolts except I've heard you want to go inside to outside when you do it. I'm not entirely sure that matters since you NEED the press tools to hold it down and it should be easier. DO NOT try to bring the cover down without the press tools. You WILL strip the bolts and the cover will not clamp down.

Thanks for the quick response. I read the procedure RE the press-tool, but your comment explains things a little more.

Thanks again,

Steve A-
