850 air conditiong freeze 850 1993

I've got what appears to be an intermittent freezing of the evaporator in the 850. The air works fine for several days, then quits until the car is turned off for a period of time. I haven't got my gauges here to do a thorough check of the system, but it appears to have a full charge since the compressor is not cycling like a low charge condition. I did add twenty oz. of refrigerant along with a can of sealer when I first started it up a couple of weeks ago. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Regards,

I have another clue in the air conditioner issue with the 850. My wife and I drove a couple of hours up the road this morning to deliver a car to its new owners. On the way back in the 850, I noticed that if the climate controller was in the max air mode on both sides (in the blue temp zone), and the control was set to auto, the air conditioner never stopped, even to the point of getting uncomfortably cold. When I tried regulating the temperature, it stopped outputting shortly after the fan slowed down at the desired temp. It also followed the same pattern in the manual mode if the temperature selectors were anywhere but in the blue zone.

I'm thinking that the controller is bad, any takers?

Regards,
