Headlights funky. 850

Tonight the headlights were dead for a short time and then revived.
After a trip to the store they were dead for ten minutes.
As if by magic they returned and all was well.
HUH!
Any clues as to the culprit for intermittant headlights?

Thanks, Bill

Probably the headlight switch. A relay if the highbeam works by pulling the stalk. A bad ground.

The high beams came on with the stalk, but the low beams and dash lights
went west together. What relay and ground?

I'd sure like to find a wiring greenbook for the 850.

      Thanks, Bill

The relay for the headlights is in the fuse tray. It is the relay that points front to back and is closest to the fender. But, I doubt that is your problem.

Because the instrument cluster is also out, I would suspect the switch. If there is a Pick&pull close by, any switch from an 850 will work. Otherwise, call me - klausclark@mchsi dot com and I can send you a replacement.

The switch is easier to remove by pulling off a blank, then the foglight switch from behind, then the light switch from behind. Otherwise, you can carefully pry the switch out with a putty knife.
