strut tower bushings adrift 850

The strut tower bushings are gonzo and there's a lot of slop/movement
and some funky noises while driving.
Did I remember right that there's more robust strut bushings in a newer model
that will fit my 95 850? What parts should I ask for?

Maybe now is the time to do new shocks? What works the best?

Thanks, Bill

People have been reporting that the Volvo XC-90 bushings will fit and are much better. Just make sure that whatever you decide to use, use OEM parts.

Also, if you decide to replace the mounts (the metal ones with a bearing that goes above the rubber bushing, again use OEM, although these seldom go bad.

Good Luck

get the XC90 spring bushings. THey are awesome.

Don't bother with the strut mount/bearing. They will almost definitely be fine. Of course don't put it back together with mounts that sound/feel terrible (they should be smooth, no gritty feeling/sound) but I just recently did mine with 210k miles and they were totally fine - I could have left them.

Spend the money on new rubber bump stops and that funky washer that goes on top of everything. They are rubber and will need to be replaced.
