Crispy Wire Protectors V70-XC70 1998

I'm finally doing the PCV system job on my 1998 V70XC (what a job!)and with 195,000 miles on the car the plastic "tubing" protecting the wires is so crispy it's falling off all over the place. Does anyone know of a product to replace this stuff when reassembling everything? Should I just wrap the wires with electrical tape?

Also, I'm doing this job without a repair manual and following advice online which has been excellent but I was wondering what the little module attached to the box with air filter is? It's a small rectangular unit about and 1½" long with an electrical connection and three small hoses attached. One hose goes to the Turbo plumbing, the others are part of emmissions I guess. Does this need replacement or just a cleaning of the orifaces? Thanks

I replaced the crispy loom with vacuum line, real cheap from the local autoparts store. Just split it lengthwise and you can let the wires for each injector out where it needs to be.

Turbo control valve. Nah, leave it alone, but inspect the condition of the vacuum hoses attached to it. If they're cracked or falling apart, you may need to replace them.

If you're still working through it, make sure you clean the PTC nipple.

Take a look through this thing I did, if you haven't run across it already:

Thanks for your help. I will replace one line but leave the turbo control alone. Just got the part out with the PTC and cleaned it. It wasn't as plugged as I thought it would be. Crankcase vent and little plastic can below intake manifold were packed tight however. Will finish up tomorrow when rain stops. The Matthews Volvo site was what got me started. It's a great (and probably only) guide through this repair.

That crispy stuff is called "wire loom" and can be purchased at auto parts places like NAPA.

When I was doing my PCV job I found the same conditions as you, but I didn't have any loom or a spare car - I split a piece of heater hose up one side and wrapped it around the wires for heat protection and to keep things tidy. It's worked well.
