Glove Box Squeak S70 00

This current road trip seems to have brought out a consistent annoying squeak at every bump. It seems to be coming from the glovebox door, since when opened, the noise disappears. Is there a quick (if even temporary) non-dealer fix for this? I'm 700 miles from home....

Thanks!

KC

Re: Glove Box Squeak S70 00

    Hey KC,

I have the exact problem. I don't know what to do about it. However, the sound doesn't seem to go away when I open the door. Do you know where the plastic splits from the door to the next section right below it? WEll, it seems the squeking noise is from there. Anything you have or do, please let me know.

    thanks.

    tim

      Tim,

The squeak I had definitely disappeared when I opened the glove box door. I followed Rich K.'s recommendation and tweaked the rod up a bit that the door latched onto, maybe only 1/8th inch. The squeak is gone, and it got tested on over 500 miles of interstate today alone.

As for your squeak, I would try to stuff some felt in between the plastic that might be rubbing. Having a passenger to push and hold various parts while driving bumpy roads help pinpoint areas.

      Good luck!

      KC

The wire catch that the door latches to could be "tweeked"(bent) up or down a bit to make the box shut tighter.
