CD Player and CDRs S70 1998

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I have the SC-816 stereo. It seem sto handle regular CDs great, but can;t read my CDRs that I create with my own music selections. I have tried 2 different kinds of disks with no success. My old 94 Infiniti J30 didn't have any problems with these disks.

Has anybody experienced this and found a solution or does Volvo simply not support CDRs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: CD Player and CDRs S70 1998

I've had similar problems, and occasionally this helps. After inserting the

disc, and the player spits it out, I wait a few seconds, the cd gets

sucked back in, and the raidio comes on. At this point, I push the "CD"

button, and it will play. It will then continue to play for days, unless I

actually eject it. I make no garuanties, but it works for me.

Good luck.

Koz.

Keep trying different brands of discs until you find one that works to your satisfaction. You don't necessarily have to buy the most expensive ones. I use 39¢ discs from Fry's that play perfectly in my SC-816. I can also play CD-RWs.

Re: CD Player and CDRs 850 1997

I am assuming here that you have converted all music files to .wav instead of .mp3 or other. The SC-816 won't read .mp3 files.

I haven't had an issue using any created disk in my SC-816. I use Adaptec EZ CD Creator Version 4. I do, however, ensure the disk is closed and not just the session. I have been using Imation 74 min and 80 min CDRs without a problem.

Best of Luck

Re: CD Player and CDRs S70 1998

Hi Dave, I had a similar problem with CDRs in my 810/6 disk changer. The CDRs worked in everything but my Volvo. I did a bit of experimenting and found a couple of things.

a) make sure that you "close" the CDR session when finished burning the disk.

B) I use memorex "audio only" CDRs. They have a nearly perfect silver back vs the green or blue common to "normal" CDRs.

C) Depending on your software, you will have to create a CD index. The adaptec easy CD creator is what I use now. I originally used Music Match Juke Box but had some issued with it and the Volvo/Alpine changer.

After doing the above, I have been able to listen to CDR's in my old changer. I have a friend that can not read any of my CDR's in his 2 year old Proscan DVD/CD player. It seems that some will not work with CDR's at all.

Have fun

Prospero
