possible 02 sensor trouble 850 1996

Had recent problem with car, scanned with OBD scanner which readout on the screen said "02 sensor, bank 1, ser 1.
I know this is oxygen sensor, but can anyone give me location and how to change. Thank you for any help.

possible 02 sensor trouble 850 1996

The pnnnn codes are generic for all engine types. Bank 1 and 2 refer to V6 and V8 engines. Our straight engines will always be bank 1. The ser 1 refers to the front O2 sensor, which is before the cat converter.

And, yes, the exhaust gets pretty hot.

jack up drivers side wheel, get under car at the side with an adjustable wrench (actually I think a 19mm open socket wrench would be perfect, if you happen to have one around..) and its sticking off the exaust almost in a line between the wheels. The connector is easy to get off from the top, you gotta reach in push in and up or something with those awesome volvo connectors.


Oh, DO NOT DO THIS with a hot engine, you'll burn yourself (trust me..)
