HELP! Rear SHOCK Apart and Can't Get It Back In V70-XC70 2003

OK!!! I have NEVER run into anything like this. I do almost all of my own work on three Volvo's and never run into a ****** of a job like this. I got the Spring/shock out but now I can't seem to fit the spring/spring compressor/shock assy into the confines of the suspension. I have searched and searched on various web-sites and can't find ANYTHING describing how to do this. Is ANYONE out there that can help me with this tonight? Thanks in advance......

HELP! Rear SHOCK Apart and Can't Get It Back In V70-XC70 2003

You'll have to clarify for us a bit. Are you talking about the front strut assembly? You shouldn't need to leave the spring compressors on while installing in the car - the nut on top should hold everything together.

This is dangerous work to do if you are not sure what you're doing. You should be able to find the description/video of someone doing a front strut replacement somewhere online that shows how to accomplish this job. Volvo just uses the "Macpherson Strut" setup, which is very common in FWD cars all over the world so it's not hard to find folks discussing how to do this.

This is actually the coil over shock set up in the rear. Things are extremely tight to fit the soil over shock and the two spring compressors in between the trailing link suspension set-up. Looking for advice. By the way, I have done numerous Front Strut replacements which is so much easier than this.
