2000 S70 non turbo ETS light S70

The ETS (Electronic Throttle System) light just went on. Would a good cleaning of the throttle body possibly fix this problem? Maybe the throttle position switch is bad? Can y'all point me in the right direction on this fix.

Thanks,

Mike

I believe a good cleaning will help, but only temporarily, it's worth it however.
Eventually it will need to be replaced, www.xemodex.com has good ETM services, check their site out.

      Klaus & Jake,

I removed the large hose that goes from the air cleaner to the throttle body to check the condition of the TB. It appears that I may have removed that hose at one time for some reason and failed to reconnect the small hose. Once reconnected the ETS light went out and it hadnt come back on.

I bought this car used from the dealer and he provided me with the entire maintenence history, and it indicated that the TB was replaced at 67,000 miles.

At the same time the check engine light came on and gave me a fault that read:

      PO 220
      TPS/Pedal Position
      sensor/B
      curcuit malfunction

Do I need to replace my TPS?

      Mike

I would clean and inspect the wiring for the TPS plug first. You might have bumped it when you were playing with the air hose.

If you back track a little, push the 'S70 Index' button on the top of the page and then type ETS in the search box on the right, you will find all sorts of answers.

If your car was sold after July, 2000, go to a dealer because the ETM is still under warranty. You can have your ETM refurbished by a Canadian firn www.XemodeX.com for about $500.
