Front Driveline Help V70-XC70 1999

Hello All,

Had the V70 w/ 125K up on a lift today due to front end noise which the technician indicated was my left front wheel bearing. In addition, while on the lift, we noted the left front tie rod was bad, and the right had a smidgen of play. Lastly, the CV boot was torn.

He said I've still got a few thousand miles before I have to tackle this so my plan is to do some research and tackle this project myself. Replacing the CV boot according to a BB archive review didn't seem prudent.

Anyway, I could use some help with parts assembly.

Tie Rod Ends: from Tasca are $25 ea
Left Wheel Hub: FAG at $130 or Tasca $143
Swedish Volvo Parts: Cardone Rebuilt Front Drive Side Axle Assembly $84

Are there any other parts that I'll need? Is the rebuilt axle assembly the way to go?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Marty Wolfson

Hello, The 3 wheel hub bolts are one time use hardware. Might be the same for the ball joint nut. Kira

      Hi Kira,

Thanks for the info. For the cost, I prob should replace at least the hub bolts.

I also noticed that IPD sells DSS rebuilt drive axles that seem to find favor on the board. Prob worth the extra $25 vs the Cardone rebuilt.

      Marty
