215K tranny back cover ( driver side ) gasket leak 850 1996

Finally found a source of this leak. Now,can be this cover removed on the car? And - if there is any surprise parts under cover - which can be " jumped away " when cover is removed? VADIS can't give any idea .
I planned to make it done in upcomming weekend - and use hi-temp red silicone sealant.
Any suggestions very welcome.
Thanks!
h

Nothing will jump or fall out. If something does fall out, your tranny has already died :)

Easy on the RTV, you might want to pull the cover off again in the next 100K.

So, i guess - RTV is a bad idea?
Then - anaerobic gasket only choice for me?
Thanks again.

What a job - to remove this tranny cover on the car...:O( So, kids, newer try it at home...;O) Right now everything is clear - anaerobic gasket eliminator ( Loctite 518 ) is awaiting to be use. Only question: what torque i need for bolts - there is two different size of them. Can't see in VADIS this info...

The cover is not a structural part and is made of aluminum. I would torque it lightly to about 15 lbs/ft at the most! If the bolts are aluminum, just snug down the bolts without using any muscles, no need to break one off.

When the manuals do not give a torque value, it is usually assumed that the bolt is to be tightened lightly.

Thank you for the help.
Bolts are made of steel with green ( i guess this is a color ) thread lock on them.
Will try not to make any " extra " repair ...
Have a good day!
