Volvo Alarm Control Unit Interchange 850 1996

Hi,

I have access to a Volvo Guard II control unit. I also have the remote. I have a 1996 850 that I would like to install the unit into. It has Volvo Guard I. Can I simply remove the units and switch them, or is it more complex then that?

Door Locking Oddity Update 850 1996

Hi,

I decided to look at the issue again today. I found that if I unlock the doors with the key on either side the alarm will sound when the door is opened. I was really hoping that it was just on one side, and a switch issue, but it is not. However, when I unlock the tailgate with the key, the alarm does not sound.

Please help. I just love the new remote instead of the old busted one. The new remote even chirps when you press the button. A far cry from the press and pray technique of the old version.

Does anyone have factory wiring diagrams? I looked at the Alldata ones already.

Volvo Alarm Control Unit Interchange (Success with Cavet) 850 1996

Hello,

The unit installed and programmed successfully. I have no reservations. The parking lamps flash when the car is locked with the remote. The old unit is red and the new unit is gray. The old remote is squarish and the new unit is rectangular with a panic feature. This would be of use to those who search junkyards or ebay. With care the unit can be disengaged with only the driver kick panel removed.

One problem though is that the locks lock twice when the remote is pressed. Could this be a result of a broken or maladjusted door switch?

If this was helpful to you, please take your favorite appropriate responsible action.
