Coolant Leak V70-XC70 2002

I discovered a coolant leak and removed the Radiator Bottom Cowl and found it leaking on the Passenger Side... I was trying to confirm that it was indeed the radiator and not the upper hose.... Very tough to see anything laying on the ground looking up....

But after I drove the car and came back and check for a leak, there was none... Is it possible as the Aluminum Crimp to the Plastic Heats up it seals up?

Most things expand when they heat up, plastic gets weaker. The only time to check for leaks is after a hot engine shutdown when the temperature is at maximum as well as the pressure. It is possible you checked too soon.

Use a paper towel to track down the leak source.

I heard a tip about tracking down leaks like this once and never had a chance to try it out.

Clean everything in the area up real good, rinse it all off and make sure it's good and dry. Powder the area with baby powder/talcum/whatever - the dry powder should stick to everything and stay dry.

If you do your test run or whatever, and then check, it should be easy to see if/where there were any leaks by the wetting of the powder.

      Might be worth a shot?

If it's not comming from the upper hose which it doesn't seem to be, what else could it be besides the Radiator

I went through this deal with my 2000. I tracked it down to the water pump. I remmoved the timing belt cover, jacked the car up and presurized the coolant system. Found the leak in what looks like an expansion plug in the water pump. Also the coolant bottle had a crack in it. When the system got hot, the crack would expand. You can get a cheap pressure tester at Harbor freight.
