New Tires? V70-XC70 2001

I must replace the tires on my wife's 2001 V70 2.4T wagon. 205/55R16

I'm considering:

Michelin MXV4

or

Michelin Pilot Exalto

I run separate winter tires on winter rims for our bricks. My concern is wet road traction. The current MXV4's on the vehicle haven't been the greatest with respect to wet road traction.

How much more noise do the Pilot Exalto's produce compared with the MXV4's?

Any thoughts our input would be appreciated.

We have a 2001 v70 t5 and in the summer we run Toyo Proxes 4, great performance in dry and wet. They get noisy when they wear down, but otherwise excellent performance and price isn't bad either.

Thanks everyone for all the posts and input.

I'm leaning toward the Michelin Pilot Exalto but I'm wondering if anyone here has the (Exalto) tires and how noisy are they?

The current tires (MXV4 Energy) are quiet, but poor on wet traction.

The Michelin's come on sale at Costco April 5th ($70 off) and the current tires on the vehicle are cracking due to age.

I hated the Michelins that came on my car. They, along with the Michelins on my sister's Escape, are some of the noisiest tires I have ever heard.

Check out some BF Goodrich tires if you're so inclined, they're one of the better tires I've tried out and have pretty good wet-weather traction. They no longer make the Traction T/A style, but the replacements are pretty good too.

Tirerack consumer survey is always fun to read:

I second the Michelin disappointment. I really really liked my Falken 512's but they wore quickly on the edges. Now I'm in the market for tires too, with no clear front runners. I'll watch this post and post back...

I just put a set of Good year Assurance Fuel max on my s70. I know I know..

Dry traction is about the same as my BFG Gsport and wet traction is also comparable to the g sports as well.

Regarding noise. These tires are silent!

Mileage actually increased, from 26-27 HWY with the gsports to just over 30 with the goodyear's.

I am impressed with them so far.
