Cat question? 850

Hello All,

My cat is toasted. honeycomb is rattling around in there and it seems to have broken free from the manifold.

A. I like Bosal they've done well by me- but which one to get?
I have an air pump... do I get the one with the "Air tube"?

I took it to my local mechanic/scam artist who had previously "rebuilt" the cat for just under $300.00 in the hopes that he would realize it needs replacement per his lifetime guarantee...

I get the car back and he says I need a gasket and its tied up for now...
don't replace a thing ?!

The engine is sound, A lot is new and I want to keep this car for a few more years...

Until I can afford a total restoration on the 120, and a C30 ;)

Cheers,

A cat cannot be rebuilt or re-furbished, only replaced. Most dealers charge $1,000 for a new OEM cat, but I would call http://www.darrellwaltripvolvo.com/parts-service/order-parts-accesrs.jsp

and ask the parts people there to see if you can get a good deal. Let them know you have an air pump.

Thanks Klaus!

I found Borsal cats on ebay from $220-$360 with shipping... If they have the gasket included then its a bolt and go affair!

cheers,
