Recently my left rear tire developed a leak. I took to a tire shop to get it fixed when they told me I need two new tires. Shore enough, they were both worn threw the steel belt on the inside of the tire so it was hard to see from the side. They also told me that I need a rear alignment. When I got home , I lifted the car up and found a bent control arm on the right side. I took it off and straightened it in a hydraulic press. It turned out to be a piece of hollow tubing that was very rusty. It looked like someone backed into something and bent it. I don't know how long it has been that way but it is too long. I discovered an adjustment bolt toward the middle of the car but I don't know how to adjust it correctly. Does any one have any info on this ? Thanks for all help !!!

Hi everyone,
I jacked the car up the other evening and removed both control rods. I made a jig to duplicate the rod that was the proper length. I then cut the rods off of the end bushings and cut new 3/4" square tube replacement rods the same length.
I put the bushings into the jig I made and welded the tubes to the bushings, painted them and installed them back in the car. I put new tires on the wheels and centered the adjustment bolts. The car rides straight and doesn't seam to be wearing the tires out. Erie Vo Vo has replacement rods for $30 each but I couldn't wait that long for them. The ones I made work just fine.

No, I never flush the bevel fluid since I removed the shaft.

You really need a machine to adjust it properly. The tires have to carry the weight of the car while the adjustments are being made. My local Volvo dealer charges around $100 to align all 4 wheels.

Have you flushed your bevel fluid lately?
