Shift interlock switch 850 1996

Hello: The shift interlock switch on my 850 functions intermitently. I understand they fail with some regularity. Where is this switch located and how can I get at it for replacement. Thanks for your feedback

You can buy the new and improved OEM from Nils Sefeldt Volvo 1-800-468-0041 for about $12.00 Instuctions on how to change it can be found on the Useful Info tab of my website http://kinovolvo.cjb.net

Look at the volvospeed bay 13 site for replacement directions. You can buy a switch that will fit perfectly at Radio Shack for approx $2.00. You just have to be able and willing to solder it. Only two connections, whole jobs takes approx 45 minutes.

The link below has a post for replacing the shift lock micro-switch, but before you tear into the center console, the next time you have trouble getting out of park, wiggle the ignition switch a bit and see if that helps, if it does, then your problem is the electricial portion of the ignition switch and not the microswitch.
