Computer settings V70-XC70 2001

I asked this question earlier this week but was not able to find the answer. I believe there are certain computer setting that the dealer can make to customize certain functions. One of these I think is having the doors auto-lock once the car starts moving. Someone said that an earlier post listed several other customization available. I however, have been unable to find that post. can anyone help me out? Either a point to that post or to the list of custon setting available would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and safe driving. Tom.

Re: Computer settings V70-XC70 2001

The doors do not/will not autolock as you drive the car as you mentioned. What Abe says is true, you can program the locks to autolock as you walk away from your car but I'd personally not advise that idea. You're better off just locking the car with your remotes IMHO.

Re: Computer settings V70-XC70 2001

John, there is a software download that has been added to give you auto-locking at 3 mph. It shows up if you look in the grp 34 software index. I personally don't recommend it as I feel that if you want your doors locked then push the button.

This feature on other cars has been known to lock doors in car washes when the wheels exceed the lock speed as it rolls through wash tunnel.

Auto-lock is a software you can have installed. It is $80 retail plus .7 times your dealer's labor rate to do the install.

I did a post on all the available things you can do but I don't have the list any more and I can't recall the post title where it was answered.

Re: Computer settings V70-XC70 2001

Tom-

to the best of my knowledge, an auto-lock function is not one of the options on your car. I will try to get a list of functions on 10/30/00 when I return to work.

Re: Computer settings V70-XC70 2001

Hello Dave,

Thank you for the reply. I take that you work for Volvo. What do you do? I would love a list of what options are available for computer customizations. I look forward to receiving it. You can e-mail it directly to me if you want. Again, thanks in advance. Tom.

Re: Computer settings V70-XC70 2001

Tom,

You may want to rethink those automatically locking doors. I did a sting in the emergency room and the consensus of firemen and paramedics was they hated seeing locked doors on an automobile accident it could delay their entry by crucial minutes. You certainly want to lock rear doors with children in the back seat. But unless you are driving through a nasty neighborhood you might want to rethink locking front doors.

Also after I realized I misspelled 'accessories' I went back and looked at Volvo's web page. Still didn't find a place that listed accessories but will send for a catalog.

Linda
