Hate to ask 850 1996

this is my third Volvo Had a 1975 164E (new), a 1986 240 wagon(new)and now a 1996 850 gle (used) with 30K on it. The 164 & 240 were both great cars with the exception of both of there heater motor. These heater motors each started going at about 50/60K. You almost had to take the car totally apart to replace these things.

after 25 years please tell me volvo fixed this problem

    Re: Here's your answer 850 1994

I have a 94 turbo wagon and at about 80,000 miles my blower motor went out. Bad thing was I was out of town with my family and it was very cold (winter). I ordered the blower from a place up in CT, I believe, and it was waiting for me when we got home from my trip. Took my mechanic less than an hour to replace and his cost wasn't bad. The blower itself was a steal where I bought it (and I believe shipping was free and the unit was less than $100), so if this ever happens to you email me. I think I still have record of where I purchased the blower motor from.

Heater motors still go out but a bit later. The good news is it's about a 30 minute repair.

Now for the bad news..... 850 1996

The aluminum AC evaporators usually fail. It's more than a 30 minute job, and now you have to disarm the bomb in the dash first.

AC evaporator instructions and costs 850 1995

        Uncle Olaf,

Do you have AC evaporator instructions and costs available? My 95 850 GLT wagon (with 166k miles) AC cycles off and on constantly and is warm after a self-recharge lasted about 45 days. Thanks in advance for your help!
