I have 2000 S80 with 107K. and have starting problem.
Key is turned to second position, all the lights are ON but at third position nothing, no click from the starter or info on the message board.
I checked and cleaned connectors on battery (two weeks old) and starter, moved shifter forward to make sure it is in park position and still nothig. When I attempt to start several times I will get it stated but I am afraid to drive and get stuck. Today I try again and key turned 360 deg in the ignition.
Spare key is giving me the same problem.I red posts about immobolizer and locking and unlocking door 5 times, but it does not work.
Should I look into electrical or mechanical problem with the ignition?
Is it difficult to replace any of those parts?
Plese give me some suggestions.

It is a mechanical problem that you will not like. When the key turns 360, the keyed portion of the lock needs to be replaced. Not a fun job drilling off the two hardened bolts, plus ordering a new lock assembly from the dealer.

The lock must be ordered from the factory via your dealer, for a few hundred $. Because the lock will be set to fit your current keys, no programming will be needed, as far as I know.

If you decide to do the drilling yourself, you will need a heavy duty drill. It takes about 30 minutes of drilling for each of the two screws.

It is possible, but not reccomended, to drive your car without a lock assembly. A screwdriver to turn the electrical portion of the ignition switch will start your car.

Update, dealer charged me $295 for the ignition lock cylinder and $149 for installation. Problem fixed.
