Get an OEM thermostat, like yours, they fail in the open position. Some cheap units fail in the closed position and the engine will overheat and die.
Remember to drain about a quart of antifreeze before starting. I drained mine from the bottom radiator hose where it connects to the block. remember to put the clamp back on the hose where it was before and not too tight.
You need a really good T40 bit, a 4 inch extension, and a 3/8" ratchet. The torx screw is aluminum and fuses itself to the block, making a simple job hard.
What I did was to center the torx bit, put my left palm over the end of the ratched, put as much weight as I could on it and slowly turned the ratchet. Once the screw 'breaks' loose, then do the same to the other screw. The housing is cast aluminum and can break easily, so just be careful.
Note how the old thermostat is positioned and replace the new one in the same direction.
You can then pour the emptied antifreeze back into the overflow bottle, except for any dirty stuff in the bottom of your clean can.
